Our Royal Academy of Engineering Ingenious Grant for engineers to develop their public engagement skills and share their passion of engineering with our audience, mainly young people is themed around Electronic Engineering.
We’ll take engineers into four schools and go out and about with four pop-up stalls to important venues around Sheffield City Region including the Magna Science Education Centre, Winter Gardens and Sheffield College.
Project Steering Group includes Sheffield City Region’s leading engineering professionals include Prof Lenny Koh, Terry Croft MBE, Prof Will Zimmerman and Dr Martin Howarth to name a few. We’re also as proud to have access to the AMRC/NMRC Mantra Bus for our project which Sheffield College asked us to book for three events we are running with them.
Engineers recruited Sports Engineers from the University of Sheffield and systems engineers from IBM. They’re keen to share their passion for engineering so that participants complete a simple engineering activity and develop an engineering design protocol using our bespoke workshop InGenious Forces at Play!
Total time commitment 4 hours: 2 hour briefing session to network with other engineers, draw on your expertise to develop engineering design problems for non-engineers to resolve and practice public engagement in a safe environment. Your 2-hour public engagement will usually be 2-3 weeks later. FREE CPD in public engagement training PLUS FREE light refreshments.
