Went to Magna Science Adventure Centre to check facilities, confirm where we’ll hang out, review risk of our activities on the day: slinky, vortex, Mario Brothers computer game competition, jitterbugs – so risks are basic: a few cables to be fitted with duct tape, water spillage from the water tornado and that’s it.
They seemed impressed that we’re badging logo-‘ed T-Shirts to make us easily identifiable, gives us a sense of presence and credibility 🙂 So it’s very easy to send our engineers out for a bit of science busking, queue jumping or pushing as I think they call it at Magna.
Badging up was the most amazing deal ever. 8 cotton T-shirts @ £1.85 each in really thick fair-trade cotton – forget about M&S I’m buying my t-shirts from them in future – and thermal laser iron on for printing our logo – the lot came in at well under £40. Botched the first transfer – my iron was still too cold – but hot enough to be a burn’s risk.
After a chin-wag we decided the Red Room was best -called that because the room is red – what else??? Despite concerns that we could be cold in just T-shirts even with the heat turned down, it’s warm as toast. But I was dressed for the Arctic with a long sleeved thin pulli, heavy double knit woollie jumper underneath winter garb – a chunky cardigan ideal for layering – on a boiling hot sunny October afternoon – it was freezing when I left.
From the images below the left hand side of the Red Room is a walkway. Visitors whether just arrived or leaving must go through this area which includes rest area and public facilities. We’ll set up a couple of tables to replace coloured chairs and tables in the back, advisedly away from the right hand wall which is a bit too red – at least I think that’s the reason.
I took quite a few shots; but just wanted to show our working area and outside the Magna Science Adventure Centre because it’s so powerful even on an iPhone – batteries on my camera were totally flat – a useful learning point. I really love the dramatic clouds in the next image and the building in the third shot with much better back lighting.
